Soccer Game Preview: Jacksonville vs. Mt. Pleasant

Jacksonville hasn't had much luck against Mt. Pleasant recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Jacksonville Fightin' Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Mt. Pleasant Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Jacksonville's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over Texas. Given the Fightin' Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Tigers are ranked 567th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mt. Pleasant). They were the clear victor by an 8-0 margin over Marshall on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won seven contests by three goals or more so far this season.

The win keeps them at an undefeated 12-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four matches. As for Jacksonville, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That somehow still isn't as good as their 14-1 record this season.
