Basketball Recap: Marcos Quintana Key Part of Team Effort in Panthers Win

Rangely won the last time they faced West Grand and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Rangely Panthers walked away with a 38-31 win over the West Grand Mustangs. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Rangely's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Marcos Quintana, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards. Quintana has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Clay Allred was another key player, putting up six points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

Rangely smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Despite the defeat, West Grand saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sanjay Geffers posted 14 points and five rebounds. What's more, Geffers posted two steals, the most he's had since back in January of 2024.

Rangely's record is now 7-13. As for West Grand, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-16.

Rangely didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 64-41 loss against Grand Valley on the 22nd. As for West Grand, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 56-51 victory against Hayden on the 22nd.
