Recap: Cedar Bluffs Wildcats vs. Shelby-Rising City Huskies
On Friday, Cedar Bluffs took a serious blow against Shelby-Rising City, falling 47-18.
Despite the loss, Cedar Bluffs had strong showings from Jakiah Mccoy, who scored seven points along with six rebounds, and Madelyn Elizabeth thomas, who scored two points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Elizabeth thomas is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Even though they lost, Cedar Bluffs were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Taya Pinneo was the offensive standout of the match as she scored 25 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Pinneo has scored at least 25% of Shelby-Rising City's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Larmon, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Cedar Bluffs' defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Shelby-Rising City, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Cedar Bluffs will be playing in front of their home fans against Lyons-Decatur Northeast on Tuesday. Hopefully Lyons-Decatur Northeast focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Tuesday. Shelby-Rising City won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Sandy Creek. Sandy Creek is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
