Basketball Game Preview: Mount de Sales Academy Cavaliers vs. Tattnall Square Academy Trojans

The Mount de Sales Academy Cavaliers will venture away from home to take on the Tattnall Square Academy Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mount de Sales Academy is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Last Saturday, Mount de Sales Academy came up short against Central Fellowship Christian Academy and fell 47-36. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 247th, while the Lancers are ranked 39th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Julia Bonbrake, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine steals. Those nine steals gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Latimer, who posted nine points in addition to six rebounds and six steals.

Even though they lost, Mount de Sales Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in seven consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Tattnall Square Academy narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past John Milledge Academy 50-47.

Tattnall Square Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Mount de Sales Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.

Mount de Sales Academy came up short against Tattnall Square Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 42-29. Can Mount de Sales Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
