Football Game Preview: Langley Saxons vs. Wakefield Warriors

The Langley Saxons will face off against the Wakefield Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Langley will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.

On Friday, Langley humbled Oakton with a 35-7 victory. Considering the Saxons have won three matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Cole Samburg was a one-man wrecking crew as he threw for 193 yards and two touchdowns while completing 93.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 63 yards and one score on only eight carries. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Leej Evans, who picked up 91 receiving yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks on offense in their last three games, Wakefield finally came back down to earth on Friday. They took a 14-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of Washington-Liberty. The contest marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

With the loss, Wakefield broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-2. As for Langley, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Langley was able to grind out a solid victory over Wakefield in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 42-30. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Warriors' Isaiah Ledbetter, who rushed for 270 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Saxons to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
