Basketball Recap: Gainesville Christian Community Comes Up Short

Gainesville Christian Community was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the St. John Lutheran Saints, falling 43-8.

Layla Salman was a one-woman wrecking crew for St. John Lutheran as she went 11 of 22 on her way to 28 points. Those 28 points gave Salman a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabelle Baluyot, who posted two points and seven steals.

St. John Lutheran now has a winning record of 2-1.

Gainesville Christian Community will look to defend their home court on Monday against Cedar Key at 6:00 p.m. Gainesville Christian Community is facing Cedar Key at the right time seeing as Cedar Key is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for St. John Lutheran, they will head out to square off against Aucilla Christian at 4:00 p.m. on December 21st.
