Football Recap: Alex Rockafellow's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Perry over Kelloggsville

Perry played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Kelloggsville Rockets, falling 48-28. While the Ramblers had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Rockets 18-14.

Perry's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alex Rockafellow, who picked up 167 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Rockafellow's longest reception was for an incredible 86 yards. Tyger Whitbeck was another key player, having thrown for 397 yards and four touchdowns.

Even if they lost, Perry's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Alex McEwan, Christian Hebert, and JT Lynch, who each picked up one sack apiece. Johnny McConnell was another major factor on D, making ten total tackles and snagged two interceptions.

This is the second loss in a row for Perry and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Kelloggsville, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Perry and Kelloggsville will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Ramblers are set to face off against their familiar foe Laingsburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Kelloggsville will challenge rival Fruitport at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
