Football Game Preview: Union Area Scotties vs. Ellwood City Wolverine + How To Watch

The Union Area Scotties will face off against the Ellwood City Wolverine at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Union Area is looking for their season's first win.

On Friday, Union Area was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 20-14 to Freedom Area. That's two games in a row now that the Scotties have lost by exactly six points.

Union Area might have lost, but man, Gianni Million was a machine: he rushed for 121 yards and one touchdown.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ellwood City). They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 48-14 victory over Riverside. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Union Area better keep an eye on Tyler Smiley. He was instrumental in Ellwood City's win, throwing for 297 yards and five TDs while picking up 13.5 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 45 yards. Those five passing touchdowns gave Smiley a new career-high. DaiLonn Currie was Smiley's top target, picking up 59 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Ellwood City didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Tyler Amicone and Dom Dinucci.

Union Area's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Ellwood City, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Union Area was taken down by Ellwood City 33-6 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Scotties, Elijah Palmer-McCane (who rushed for 189 yards and three touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
