Basketball Recap: Odyssey Charter School Takes a Loss

Odyssey Charter School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Atlantic Christian Sharks 59-30.

Despite the loss, Odyssey Charter School still got an impressive performance from Melissa Mayfield, who posted 16 points. Those 16 points gave Mayfield a new career-high. Natalia Dejesus Bruno was another key player, putting up eight points.

Atlantic Christian was led to victory by Destiny Martinez and Jaidah Chase. Martinez scored 23 points, while Chase had 23 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Chase has scored at least a third of Atlantic Christian's points.

Odyssey Charter School's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Atlantic Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a massive bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Odyssey Charter School will square off against John Carroll Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. John Carroll Catholic will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Odyssey Charter School surely won't give up without a fight. As for Atlantic Christian, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 58-41 victory against Pahokee on the 21st.
