Basketball Recap: Kelly Catholic Comes Up Short

Kelly Catholic's tournament run continued when they took on Reeves on Thursday. The Kelly Catholic Bulldogs lost 80-60 to the Reeves Raiders. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 1083rd in Texas, while the Raiders are ranked 85th in Louisiana).

Leading Reeves to victory were Carter Guillory and Ethan Fondon. Guillory went 7 of 12 from beyond the arc on his way to 23 points and six rebounds, while Fondon went 6 of 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 24 points. The dominant performance gave Fondon a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Colby Stark, who posted nine points and eight assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Kelly Catholic and nudges their season record down to 8-12. As for Reeves, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.

Kelly Catholic didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-34 defeat against East Chambers on the 27th. As for Reeves, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 89-61 loss against Shepherd on the 27th.
