Basketball Recap: Wahluke Takes a Loss

Wahluke was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against the Kiona-Benton Bears, falling 42-22. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-14 back in December of 2024.

Kiona-Benton found their leader in freshman Shelby Messner, who dropped a triple-double on 20 points, ten boards, and 13 steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Messner has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Abril Guevara, who posted nine points and six steals.

Wahluke's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Kiona-Benton, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-8.

When Wahluke and Kiona-Benton next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Wahluke will challenge Cashmere and their six-game winning streak at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday. Similarly, Kiona-Benton will try to stop Naches Valley's five-game winning streak when the meet at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
