Softball Game Preview: Clinton Maroons vs. Central A & M Raiders

Clinton is 2-8 against Central A & M since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Maroons will be playing at home against the Raiders at 4:30 p.m. Clinton has given up an average of 9.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Clinton is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Monday. They fell 12-7 to Tri-Valley.

Riley Fentress made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Ariana Humes was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Central A & M can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Shelbyville 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Raiders have posted since March 17th.

Gwyn Hardimon made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Riley Hazelwonder, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run. Another player making a difference was Brookelyn Jackson, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Central A & M kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 8-3 when they post 11 or more hits.

Central A & M's win bumped their record up to 11-13. As for Clinton, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.
