Softball Recap: Hermon Triumphs

Hermon owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Brewer Witches. The Hawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Witches, too.

The result came thanks to Becca Balmas's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hermon let Mikelle Verrill and Leah Walker run wild. Verrill went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Walker went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Hermon and bumps their season record up to 7-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Brewer, they dropped their record down to 6-5 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Hermon has already played their next matchup (against Old Town), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Brewer, they will venture away from home to face off against Camden Hills at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Witches' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Windjammers have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season.
