Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Zy Alhuzaifi and Mackenzie Tucker Lead Canterbury to Victory

The third road matchup was the charm for Canterbury, as they earned their first road win of the season. They enjoyed a cozy 51-34 win over the Sports Leadership & Management Spartans on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Crusaders as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Leading Canterbury to victory were MacKenzie Tucker and Zy Alhuzaifi. Tucker posted 21 points, while Alhuzaifi scored 21 points. That makes it six consecutive games in which Alhuzaifi has scored at least a third of Canterbury's points. Another player making a difference was Myriah Harrison, who had seven points.

Despite the defeat, Sports Leadership & Management saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Skylar Payne earned 21 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Payne is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. Samantha Montecdeoca was another key player, putting up five points and nine boards.

Canterbury's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Sports Leadership & Management, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.

Canterbury wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 38-32 victory against Classical Prep on the 18th. As for Sports Leadership & Management, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-32 win against Riverside Christian on the 18th.
