Recap: Nixon Mustangs vs. Cigarroa Toros
The Nixon Mustangs had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 42-7 win over Cigarroa. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-0.
Nixon got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Shawn David haynes out in front who picked up 222 receiving yards and four touchdowns. RAY GONZALEZ was another key contributor, throwing for 301 yards and four touchdowns while completing 81% of his passes.
Nixon's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-3. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Cigarroa, Medina Valley, and Winn. As for Cigarroa, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.
Nixon will head out on the road to face off against Southwest Legacy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cigarroa, they will be playing at home against Southwest at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Southwest will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
