Volleyball Game Preview: Gibraltar Vikings vs. Sevastopol Pioneers

The Gibraltar Vikings will head out to challenge the Sevastopol Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gibraltar has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since September 16.

Gibraltar is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest defeat since September 4th on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to Southern Door.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Southern Door scored at least 17 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-17, 25-21.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Sevastopol and Kewaunee, and Kewaunee kept the tradition alive. The Pioneers fell just short of the Storm by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. While the Pioneers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Storm 25-11 in the first set.

Sevastopol wouldn't go down easily and took Kewaunee into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 11-25, 25-15, 24-26, 25-15, 15-13.

Sevastopol's defeat dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Gibraltar, their loss dropped their record down to 5-19.

Gibraltar suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Sevastopol in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
