Basketball Recap: Providence Comes Up Short

Providence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. Their2024 ended with a 49-30 loss against the Charlotte Latin Hawks. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 380th, while the Hawks are ranked 88th).

Despite the defeat, Providence saw an underclassman step up: freshman Emma Fuller dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fuller has scored all season.

Providence's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Charlotte Latin, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Providence will head out to square off against Pinecrest at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Charlotte Latin, they will venture away from home to face off against Hammond at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Charlotte Latin is facing Hammond at the right time seeing as Hammond is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
