Basketball Game Preview: Ravenscroft Ravens vs. Durham Academy Cavaliers

Ravenscroft and Durham Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Ravenscroft Ravens will take on the Durham Academy Cavaliers at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Ravenscroft is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering North Raleigh Christian Academy just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a hard 70-51 fall against the Knights.

Ravenscroft might have lost, but man, Ellie Cronin was a machine: she dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 boards. The game was Cronin's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Hannah Mason, who posted 12 points.

Even though they lost, Ravenscroft was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Raleigh Christian Academy only racked up five assists.

Meanwhile, Durham Academy fought the good fight in their overtime match against St. Mary's on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Saints by a score of 47-45. The Cavaliers' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

Ravenscroft's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-13. As for Durham Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.

Ravenscroft strolled past Durham Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a score of 47-29. Does Ravenscroft have another victory up their sleeve, or will Durham Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
