Baseball Recap: La Mirada Triumphs

La Mirada's tournament run continued when they took on Holly Springs on Saturday. The Matadores came out on top against the Golden Hawks by a score of 7-3. That's two games straight that the Matadores have won by exactly four runs.

The team relied heavily on Jesse Colon, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Maverek Russell, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI.

The win made it two in a row for La Mirada and bumps their season record up to 16-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Holly Springs, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-8.

La Mirada wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 10-0 defeat against Wesleyan Christian Academy on the 12th. As for Holly Springs, they will take on Panther Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Catamounts are coming into the matchup with six straight losses at home, meaning the Golden Hawks will have to defend against a team out to give their home crowd a much needed win.
