Basketball Recap: Ellicott Falls to Thomas Maclaren School in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Ellicott kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They had to suffer through a 52-21 loss at the hands of the Thomas MacLaren School Highlanders. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it 13 in a row.

Dawson Pickett was Ellicott's leading scorer, having posted nine points. Pickett also led the team in rebounds with five.

Thomas MacLaren School's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lance Mathews, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Mathews is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 16 games he's played dating back to last season. Caiden Zoerb-Orta was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.

Coming up, Ellicott will head out to take on Calhan at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Thomas MacLaren School, they will host Kiowa at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
