Softball Recap: Cypress Ranch Wins Going Away Against Cypress Lakes

Cypress Ranch got themselves on the board against Cypress Lakes on Friday, but Cypress Lakes never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Cypress Lakes Spartans with a sharp 17-0 victory. Considering the Mustangs have won five matches by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Layla Gallardo looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, Cypress Ranch got a massive performance out of Dani Garza, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Garza has posted over her last 13 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlynn Massey, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4.

Cypress Ranch always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cypress Lakes only posted an OBP of .214.

Cypress Ranch's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-6. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cypress Lakes, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

After both having extra time off, Cypress Ranch and Cypress Woods will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 6:00 p.m. on March 18th. Cypress Woods is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season. Cypress Lakes will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bridgeland at 6:00 p.m. on March 18th. Cypress Lakes has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
