Baseball Game Preview: Tellico Plains Bears vs. Meigs County Tigers

Tellico Plains is 1-9 against Meigs County since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Tellico Plains Bears are taking a road trip to challenge the Meigs County Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Tellico Plains has given up an average of 7.9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Tellico Plains lost 14-4 to Meigs County on Monday.

For Meigs County's part, they let Titus Fowler and William Hogan run wild. Fowler scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Hogan went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs. The dominant performance gave Hogan a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Bowen Combs, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Meigs County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Meigs County pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Tellico Plains, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-3.

Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Tellico Plains hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. However, it's not like Meigs County struggles in that department as they've averaged .355. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
