Baseball Recap: Del Oro Victorious

Del Oro lost to Jesuit on Wednesday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Golden Eagles came out on top against the Marauders by a score of 5-1.

Del Oro got a great performance from Brody Coxen as he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

At the plate, Shane Maloney was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Kevin Taylor was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

Del Oro's victory bumped their record up to 16-8. As for Jesuit, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-9.

Looking ahead, Del Oro will head out to challenge Junipero Serra at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Golden Eagles 3.5, the Padres 3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Jesuit, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Granite Bay at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
