Mt. Abraham had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Champlain Valley Union Redhawks, sneaking past 8-7. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 10-3 victory the Redhawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.
Abe Ready was incredible, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Peck, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Champlain Valley Union now has a losing record of 1-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Abraham will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Spaulding at 4:30 p.m. on the 29th. As for Champlain Valley Union, they will head out to face off against Plattsburgh at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Redhawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hornets have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season.
