Basketball Recap: Bunceton Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Bunceton unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 48-39 to Christian Fellowship on Friday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Christian Fellowship to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ariya Barton, who posted eight points along with ten assists and six boards. Barton has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Grace Heston was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals.

Bunceton will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on New Bloomfield at 6:00 p.m. on December 4. As for Christian Fellowship, they and Southern Boone will face off at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played.
