Softball Recap: Everglades City Takes a Loss

After flying high against East Lee County last Thursday, Everglades City came back down to earth. The Gators came up short against the Southwest Florida Christian King on Monday, falling 13-3. The Gators haven't had much luck with the King's recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Everglades City saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayde Freeman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. Freeman is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Ava Ramos was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Everglades City now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Southwest Florida Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.

Everglades City will square off against Lely at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southwest Florida Christian, they will take on Oasis at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The King's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sharks have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season.
