Wagner is 0-3 against Gayville-Volin since March of 2023 but things could change on Thursday. The Red Raiders will head out to face off against the Raiders at 4:00 p.m. Wagner has given up an average of 8.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Scotland/Menno hit Wagner with a six-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red Raiders lost 13-2 to the Trappers. The Red Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lydia Yost spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and seven unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Wagner saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mary Virginia Ashes, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gayville-Volin). They were the clear victors by a 22-1 margin over Colman-Egan on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won four contests by 11 runs or more so far this season.
Ayla Dimmer made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Gayville-Volin got a massive performance out of Teresa Stockman, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those four runs gave Stockman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jolie Westrum, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
Gayville-Volin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Gayville-Volin's record now sits at 5-1. As for Wagner, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wagner has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Gayville-Volin struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Wagner suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Gayville-Volin when the teams last played on April 5th. Can the Red Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
