Volleyball Recap: Norwich Free Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against Cheney Tech on Friday, Norwich Free Academy came back down to earth. The Wildcats fell just short of the Enfield Eagles by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their loss to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in May of 2023.

The 3-2 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 24-26, 25-27, 25-23, 16-14.

Mason Stolhammer paced Norwich Free Academy's offense, picking up 15 kills. Stolhammer got some help from Alec Ferland and his 52 assists.

Joseph Capasso was the offensive standout of the game as he had 12 digs and one assist. Those 12 digs gave him a new career-high.

The defeat snapped Norwich Free Academy's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-7 record. As for Enfield, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-5.

Coming up, Norwich Free Academy will face off against Wolcott RVT at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Enfield, they will head out to face off against East Hartford at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles are facing the Hornets at the right time seeing as the Hornets are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
