Football Recap: Willingboro Starts Season with Victory Against Rahway

Willingboro had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They had just enough and edged out the Rahway Indians 35-33.

Rahway's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Avent, who picked up 115 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 103 yards and one score. Avent really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 72 yards. Ja'Quan Robinson was another key passer, throwing for 256 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Willingboro will head out to face off against Eastside at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Rahway, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will square off against Scotch Plains-Fanwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
