Football Recap: La Junta Comes Up Short

La Junta lost against The Classical Academy back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Tigers lost 45-25 to the Titans. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-7.

Although La Junta took the loss, they still got scores from Christian Armendariz, Calvin Hill, and Eban Morales.

Jackson Schipfer produced another solid performance rushing for 206 yards and one score while picking up 8.2 yards per carry for The Classical Academy. Schipfer showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 53 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Godoy, who rushed for 36 yards and three TDs.

This is the second loss in a row for La Junta and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for The Classical Academy, their record is now 4-0.

La Junta and The Classical Academy will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Tigers see the field they'll take on Lamar at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for The Classical Academy, their break will end when they face Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
