Basketball Recap: Roma Gladiators vs. Palmview Lobos
The Roma Gladiators have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were beaten by Palmview 53-24 on Friday. Roma has not had much luck with the Lobos recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Leading Palmview to victory were Nicole Flores and Mia Rojas. Flores scored 14 points along with six assists and five rebounds, while Rojas scored 25 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Destinee Garza, who scored six points along with three steals.
Roma has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 23-13 record this season. As for Palmview, they pushed their record up to 29-6 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Roma will take on the Rattlers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Palmview, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Toros at 7:00 p.m. Cigarroa will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 574th, while the Lobos are ranked 226th).
