Baseball Game Preview: Owatonna Huskies vs. Mayo Spartans

The Owatonna Huskies will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Mayo Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Owatonna is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Austin. The Huskies were the clear victors by a 15-9 margin over the Packers on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Huskies have posted against the Packers since May 4, 2017.

Meanwhile, Mayo got the win against Red Wing on Tuesday by a conclusive 11-1. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Wingers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Owatonna couldn't quite finish off Mayo in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Huskies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
