Basketball Game Preview: Centennial Broncos vs. Centura Centurions

The Centennial Broncos will face off against the Centura Centurions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with six losses in a row, Centennial turned things around against Shelby-Rising City on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 42-14 win over the Huskies. That looming 42-14 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Broncos yet this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Centura, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 36-25 victory over Doniphan-Trumbull on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Centurions as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Centura's win came from a few key players Centennial will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Taya Taukiuvea, who posted 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Davis, who put up 14 points and five blocks.

Centura smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Centennial's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-8. As for Centura, their win bumped their record up to 4-8.

Things could have been worse for Centennial, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-35 loss to Centura in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Thankfully for Centennial, Kyra Wooden (who went 10 of 14 on her way to 26 points and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
