Preview: Timber Creek Falcons vs. Southlake Carroll Dragons
The Timber Creek Falcons will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Southlake Carroll Dragons at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Timber Creek came into Tuesday's matchup having lost 11 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Keller Central on Tuesday and snuck past 53-51. The victory was just what Timber Creek needed coming off of a 78-47 loss in their prior contest.
Timber Creek's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dj Bell, who scored eight points along with three steals. Luke Stern was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Southlake Carroll didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Fossil Ridge on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 45-39 victory. Given Southlake Carroll's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while Fossil Ridge is ranked 261st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Timber Creek's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-18. As for Southlake Carroll, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season.
