Softball Recap: Wellston Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Wellston had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Northwest Mohawks. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Golden Rockets also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2022.

Hannah Potts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up 17 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Wellston saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Raylen Landrum, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Kennedi Stevens was another, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Wellston's win bumped their record up to 20-2. As for Northwest, they moved to 21-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Wellston nor the Mohawks have any future games scheduled.
