Basketball Game Preview: Bishop's Knights vs. Cardinal Newman Cardinals

Having just played yesterday, the Bishop's Knights will jump right back in to play the Cardinal Newman Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Bishop's tournament run continued when they took on Torrey Pines on Friday. Bishop's put the hurt on Torrey Pines with a sharp 52-31 win. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Cardinal Newman faced off against JSerra Catholic on Friday. Cardinal Newman escaped with a win against JSerra Catholic by the margin of a single free throw, 54-53. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Lions are ranked 190th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cardinal Newman pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for Bishop's, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-1.
