Softball Recap: Knox Central's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

Knox Central dropped their record down to 11-8-1 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pineville Mountain Lions. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Panthers couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Pineville, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.

For Pineville's part, Rachel Howard made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. Howard has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 20 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Howard wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rayanna Maidon, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

As of now, neither Knox Central nor Pineville have any future games scheduled.
