Softball Recap: Shadyside Drops Season-High Score on Beallsville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shadyside). They blew past the Beallsville Blue Devils 17-4 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now won nine in a row.

Isabells DeFelice was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Shadyside got a massive performance out of Kara Zeroski, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. The dominant performance also gave Zeroski a new career-high in RBI (two). Josey Greenwood was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Shadyside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in five consecutive contests.

Shadyside's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-7. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Beallsville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Looking ahead, Shadyside will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Monroe Central at 5:00 p.m. As for Beallsville, they will head out on the road to square off against Caldwell at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
