Baseball Recap: Ithaca Drops Season-High Score on Alma

Ithaca entered their tilt with Alma on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 16-15 W against the Panthers. The Yellowjackets' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Brady Paradise made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ithaca got a massive performance out of Ryley White, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. White is becoming a predictor of the Yellowjackets' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 6-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Carsen Shankel, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and two RBI.

Ithaca's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Alma, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-9-1.

Coming up, Ithaca will venture away from home to challenge St. Louis at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Sharks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.44 runs per game on average), something the Yellowjackets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Alma, they will welcome Chesaning at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
