Preview: Long Reach Lightning vs. Centennial Eagles
The Long Reach Lightning will head out on the road to face off against the Centennial Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Long Reach is looking to tack on another W to their 15-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Even though Wilde Lake scored an imposing 62 points on Monday, Long Reach still came out on top. Long Reach took their match against Wilde Lake 73-62. Given Long Reach's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while Wilde Lake is ranked 137th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Centennial got the win against Winters Mill on Monday by a conclusive 57-32.
Long Reach's victory bumped their record up to 17-1. As for Centennial, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
Long Reach beat Centennial 63-56 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Long Reach since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
