Mater Dei proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by eight) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Staunton Bulldogs 1-0. Mater Dei's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three contests.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Edwin Oros, who's now up to five this season.

Mater Dei's victory bumped their record up to 5-3-1. As for Staunton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.

Mater Dei wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next match, a 1-0 defeat against Father McGivney Catholic on the 17th. As for Staunton, they have also already played their next game, a 5-1 win against North Mac on the 16th.
