Herriman extends home winning streak to seven

Recap: Herriman Mustangs vs. Mountain Ridge Sentinels

The Herriman Mustangs won the last time they faced the Mountain Ridge Sentinels, and things went their way on Friday too. Herriman snuck past Mountain Ridge with a 57-51 victory. Given Herriman's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Mountain Ridge is ranked 65th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Herriman to victory were Carlo Mulford and Malcolm Johnson. Mulford scored 17 points along with three steals, while Johnson dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Mulford has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ike Palmer, who scored two points along with six assists and five rebounds.

Despite the loss, Mountain Ridge still got an impressive performance from Spencer Krainich, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Krainich has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Allen, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two steals.

Herriman's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3. As for Mountain Ridge, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

Herriman will head out on the road to face off against Corner Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Corner Canyon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Friday. As for Mountain Ridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Copper Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
