Recap: Windsor Charter Academy Firebirds vs. Estes Park Bobcats

The Windsor Charter Academy Firebirds entered their tilt with the Estes Park Bobcats with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Windsor Charter Academy enjoyed a cozy 66-50 win over Estes Park on Wednesday. Given Windsor Charter Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 51st, while Estes Park is ranked 227th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kellen Ball continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points along with seven steals and six assists. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Schams, who scored 21 points.

Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Phin Smith, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. That's the first time this season that Smith pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hayden Powell, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Windsor Charter Academy pushed their record up to 9-1 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Estes Park, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Windsor Charter Academy will stay at home for another game and welcome Loveland Classical at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. Averaging 75 so far this season, Loveland Classical's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Windsor Charter Academy better be ready for a challenge. As for Estes Park, they will head out on the road to face off against Wellington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wellington comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
