Baseball Recap: Sequoia Takes a Loss

Sequoia had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 9-9 to make it four. They fell just short of the Menlo-Atherton Bears by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Ravens have suffered since March 11th.

Drew Ostrander was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Menlo-Atherton, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.

On Menlo-Atherton's side, Anthony Kabrich looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Kabrich has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Menlo-Atherton's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Will Roberts, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. MJ Ellazar was another, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sequoia will host Menlo School at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Menlo-Atherton, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against King's Academy at 4:00 p.m.
