Basketball Game Preview: Williston Red Devils vs. Newberry Panthers

Williston has won 16 straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Newberry has won 16 straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Williston Red Devils will welcome the Newberry Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Williston knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Newberry likes a good challenge.

Williston will bounce into Friday's match after beating Hawthorne, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Williston came out on top against Hawthorne by a score of 66-54 on Friday.

De'Andre Harvey continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 27 points and nine rebounds. His evening made it 17 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Adam Henderson, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 13 points and eight boards.

Williston smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Newberry faced The Rock in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, Newberry made off with a 68-67 victory over The Rock.

Williston's win bumped their record up to 13-8. As for Newberry, their victory bumped their record up to 16-0.
