Baseball Recap: Concord Comes Up Short

After flying high against Robinson on Tuesday, Concord came back down to earth. The Spiders lost 16-3 to the Carson Cougars on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 back in March.

Concord saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jerry 'Neil' Hammill, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Concord has also been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Carson, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Concord will host Northwest Cabarrus at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spiders are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Carson, they will be playing at home against South Rowan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars will also cruise into their next contest with the timing on their side: the Raiders will have lost three straight heading into Tuesday's game.
