Football Recap: Montgomery Comes Up Short at Home Against Kingwood Park

Montgomery unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 47-41 to the Kingwood Park Panthers on Friday. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Jack Merryman threw for 200 yards and one TD while completing 76% of his passes. Isaiah Mendoza was his top target, picking up 72 receiving yards.

Montgomery will be playing at home against Caney Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Kingwood Park, they will head out on the road to face off against Dayton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
