Football Recap: Brother Rice Beats Downers Grove North for Their Seventh Straight Victory + How To Watch

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Brother Rice had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 45-17 win over the Downers Grove North Trojans. Considering the Crusaders have won ten games by more than 21 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Brother Rice's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from CJ Gray, who rushed for 134 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry, and also threw for 178 yards and one TD. Those 134 rushing yards gave Gray a new career-high. Jaylin Green helped out on the ground, rushing for 163 yards and a rushing touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Brother Rice was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 399 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

The victory (which was Brother Rice's seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.7 points on average over those games. As for Downers Grove North, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-3.

Brother Rice will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. Rita at 3:00 p.m. on the 3rd. The Crusaders will need to watch out since the Mustangs have now posted at least 31 points in their last three matchups. Downers Grove North does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
