Basketball Recap: Hoover Patriots vs. Roosevelt Rough Riders
The Hoover Patriots entered their tilt with the Roosevelt Rough Riders with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Hoover secured a 60-55 W over the Rough Riders on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
It was another big night for Keon Hill, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryant Bell, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Roosevelt still got an impressive performance from Cobi Posas, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and six blocks. Posas has been hot recently, having posted four or more blocks the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was James Miller, who scored 14 points.
Hoover is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. As for Roosevelt, their loss dropped their record down to 14-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hoover will face off against the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Roosevelt, they will head out on the road to take on the Highlanders at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. McLane is on a three-game streak of home wins, the Rough Riders a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
