Football Recap: Mesquite Takes a Loss

Mesquite lost against Arcadia back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Wildcats took a blow against the Titans, falling 63-21. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona football rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Titans are ranked 30th).

Ryan Jimenez was his usual excellent self, rushing for 146 yards and three TDs on only 13 carries, while also catching one score for Arcadia. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Jimenez a new career-high. Ian Slater was another key player, picking up 175 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Mesquite's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Arcadia, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mesquite will welcome Combs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Coyotes' defense has only allowed 9.7 points per game this season, so the Wildcats' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Arcadia, they will host Poston Butte at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Titans will be up against the Broncos' rather soft defense (which has allowed 37 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
